Live Earth
On July 7th (7/7/07), Live Earth will be taking over
Giants Stadium as the culmination to Live Earth's 24
hours of music across 7 continents. These series of
events are expected to bring together 2 billion people
to help combat the climate crisis.
"Capping Live Earth with a blockbuster show like this
will ensure we meet our challenge of building a mass
audience to combat global warming," executive producer
Kevin Wall said. "Live Earth will be a monumental event
both in terms of entertainment and in turning the tide
against global warming." The Giant Stadium show will
feature acts such as Dave Matthews Band, The Police,
Alicia Keys, Sheryl Crow, John Mayer, Melissa Etheridge,
and many more.
Other acts will perform around the world in cities that
include London, Tokyo, Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, Shanghai,
and others. Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snow Patrol,
the Beastie Boys, as well as many others will be taking
part in this event. Live Earth will bring together more
then 100 music artist total in hopes to create awareness
and get others to take action towards this important
environmental issue.
Former Vice President Al Gore and recent Academy Award
winner for his documentary An Incontinent Truth,
is a Co Chair of Live Earth. Gore said, "We hope the
energy created by Live Earth will jump Start a massive
public education effort." Live Earth marks the start of
a multi-year movement led by The Alliance for Climate
Protection to encourage individuals, corporations, and
governments to take action
